Resources for Technical Writing Teachers

This list, while not exhaustive, links to a variety of sites that technical writing teachers can use both inside and outside the classroom. Instructors can find model syllabi, links to associations, helpful descriptions of technical writing and its many forms, references for students, and materials which could generate classroom discussion.

Site visitors can subscribe to the list, look for books and resources, join a chat or go straight to information on popular topics such as education or computers. One valuable area of the site has tips on developing online resumes, emailing resumes, and related topics.

The Association of Teachers of Technical Writing

This site, maintained by the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing, has an extensive section of sample syllabi submitted by teachers in various technical writing-related fields. The site also offers resource links and news.

This site has an editing FAQ which covers usage and other questions that editors face. Questions were posted, editors sent in their answers, and site users voted on the alternatives. Example questions: Should there be an apostrophe in terms such as "Veterans Administration"? Which style guides are most commonly used in various branches of copy editing?
