Virtual
Tour
Faculty Input Form,
http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/input.fac/
We developed this form as
a way to engage participants in the site before showing them
the rest of the site. We hope you will take a couple of
minutes to fill out the form before going on to the rest of
the site.
Send a Paper Form,
http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/tutor/send.paper.html
This is the form that
students use to send papers for tutoring. When students
click the send button, a series of actions are taken. For an
overview of the process, you can view a clickable imagemap
(http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/tutor/tour/owl.tour.html)
or read about the process (http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/technology/forms.html#student_paper).
Sample Papers,
http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/samplepapers/
Student papers are stored
in a password-protected directory on the server to protect
students' privacy. We deleted personal information and
posted a couple of papers (with the students' permission) so
that others could see what submissions look like.
Meet the Tutors,
http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/tut.profiles/
Short biographies of the
online tutors.
CCD Writing
Handouts, http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/handouts/
Students may access these
handouts directly, or tutors may place a link to relevant
handouts within their responses so that students have easy
access.
Evaluation Form,
http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/email.eval.html
Students are asked to
evaluate their online tutoring sessions.
Writing for Fun,
http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/writ.spaces/
Spaces where students can
write. Activities include sending postcards to friends and
family, adding lines to poetry in progress, and learning
new, obscure words.
Teacher Resources,
http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/teach_resource/
Currently, the Teacher
Resources section consists of Ruth Brancard's Resources for
ESL Composition Teachers. The result of 2 years of research,
Ruth put together these comprehensive lists of annotated
resources. We hope to add more sections to this area such as
resources for business writing, tech writing,
etc.
Online Tutoring
Statistics, http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/tutor/owl.stats.html
Using counters, we keep
track of the number of "hits" to the main Online Tutoring
page as well as how many papers have been sent. For more
information, see Counters at http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/technology/extras.html.
Server Statistics,
http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/stats/
Complete statistical
reports on the number of hits the OWL Server receives,
including daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, domain, browser,
and page reports.
Technology
Overview, http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/technology/
Each technological feature
of the OWL is described in layman's language (we hope) with
examples and links to relevant parts of the site.
This tour focuses on some
of the highlights of the OWL site. Feel free to browse
through the site in your own way at http://owl.ccd.cccoes.edu/owl/.
