If you are sending an assignment, explain the instructions the teacher gave you about the assignment. For example, tell about the assigned topic, the type of paper, the length, the audience, the writing skills emphasized. Also, tell us how long you have been working on the project.

Global Concerns (recommended for early drafts)

Thesis--The writing develops from a clear thesis or unifying idea.

Development--Writer fully explores, explains, illustrates, supports main idea.

Organization--Writer effectively organizes content to support the thesis.

Purpose--The writing satisfies the teacher's assignment or the writer's purpose.

Paragraph Level Concerns (recommended for early and revised drafts)

Topic and Focus--Writer develops a single topic in each paragraph that supports the main idea of the writing.

Paragraph Development--Writer fully explores, explains, illustrates topic ideas.

Paragraph Organization--Writer arranges ideas logically, using the best patterns for the topics.

Paragraph Connections--Writer connects ideas: uses transitions, repeats words, synonyms, links back to earlier statements.

Sentence Level Concerns (recommended for final drafts)

(word order, missing words, word choice, prepositions, articles).

How to Copy and Paste

  1. Switch from the web browser you're using (Netscape at CCD) to your word processor (for example, MS Word or Claris Works).
  2. Open your paper in your word processor.
  3. Under the Edit menu, choose Select All.
  4. Under the Edit menu, choose Copy.
  5. Switch back to your web browser and click in the box provided for sending papers (click the link below to return to the box).
  6. Under the Edit menu in the web browser, choose Paste.
  7. Once your paper is pasted in to the box, select the "send" button at the bottom of the form.
    Paste in your paper now.
