Tutor Work Area |
The OWL contains many resources that help in the writing process, from writing handouts that address specific grammar issues to sample papers that provide students with models of good writing as well as tips on how to accomplish a given form. Students can also work with a tutor on any part of a writing assignment or at any point during the writing process. Tutors can teach many aspects of writing, including how to organize your writing and how to use the standard English conventions of punctuation and grammar. Tutors work from a belief that writing is a process, using the student's writing as the basis for that work. Therefore, receiving feedback is but one step in the larger process of the writing. Your visit to the OWL should not be seen as the final step in the process, and this belief then makes "fixing" a paper in one session unrealistic. Tutors try to help the writer become independent in his or her learning. Tutors will work to create a dialogue about your writing with the hopes that you will resubmit subsequent drafts of a paper as you work on it. When you send a paper to the CCD OWL, a team of tutors will receive it. One will claim your paper. We'll return papers with comments within 24-48 hours. You are responsible for reading the guidelines at least once each semester. To access the online tutoring form, click here: |
