OWL Technology Overview
The CCD OWL is a web-based,
interactive service that incorporates a number of different technologies.
During its first serveral years of operation the OWL was housed on a Macintosh
server. However, the old gal, as we fondly referred to the server, came
to an untimely end.
As of the summer of 2004,
the OWL resides on a Unix server at CCCOnline, our partner institution.
This move required extensive reengineering of the OWL, and as a result
we expect a period of debugging throughout the summer of 2004.
Below is a description of
some of the current underlying technology used for the CCD OWL.
